This project began as a salvaged 2 speed leslie unit from an old organ. I guilt a and turned it into a mini "vibratone" style cab for my guitar.

I started with a simple cab construction. I went with 12in pine trying to keep things portable.

Instead of using finger joints, I decided to use some basic L brackets.

I aligned the leslie and installed the mounting faces. Finally it was time to cover the cab with black vinyl. I salvaged some chrome corner protectors from an old cheap practice amp.

The vinyl was applied using 3M 90 spray adhesive. I seamed the vinyl on the bottom of the cab, it seemed like the best place for it.

For a nice vintage look I decided on houndstooth grill cloth.

The stock speaker was replaced with a Jensen CR8. Now came time for the wiring and custom control circuit board.

The board is just two 115v relays activated by 12vdc wired foot switch. Also added was customized internal microphones for the cab.

This was done using a customized version of a condenser mic I been building for years. One on the bottom right and one in the upper left. I wired these so they can be utilized mono or stereo. This allows the output to be sent to any venues main board and panned left and right through the house mains.

I used Galvanized tin to create a shielded cover to minimize noise from the 110v circuit. After this I created some custom control panels for the power and audio sections.

I decided I did not want any screws exposed on the finished cab. For this reason the grill and rear access panel are both attached with velcro.

The finished cab turned out great.

2009-01-01: Reworked leslie cab.
