1969 Teisco EV-2T Year: 1969 Brand: Teisco Model: EV-2T Class: Guitar Owner: Jeff Hewitt Status: In Studio.
Del Ray copy of a VOX Phantom. While it needed a lot of work, it was mostly complete.
After disassembly, I thought someone had stripped the original pick guard, but it was just repainted white. A little cleaning got it looking as it should.
The body had a big nick near the pick guard I didn't like, so I did a little wood putty fill and sand. After I mixed up a color match and thinned it bit. I didn't feel the need to repair the major nicks, just add a little vintage tint in them to clean up it's overall appearance.
It had a missing switch, wiring issues, and the pots were newer CTS. With the pickups working I cleaned up and rewired it, the old rhythm/solo switch is now a full bypass of the vol/tone straight to the jack. I also shielded the back of the pick guard and body cavity to cut interference.
The neck had some missing binding, but I had a good match on hand to replace the section.
The missing tuners were replaced with kluson style split post inline tuning machines. I made the missing headtock badge using a reverse water decal I created and hand laid the white and a custom cut aluminum plate. I did a little distress to it to make it fit the instruments age. If I find the right badge and a decent price I can swap it out.
2023-11-10: Replacment vibrato ordered. I only used the arm and spring, but the cost was the same for the arm and spring or the entire unit.
2023-11-20: The original space adjustment bridge was missing, but I had a spare grestch style space adjustment bridge on hand.
