1964 Greco Gr-5 Year: 1964 Brand: Greco Model: Gr-5 Class: Guitar Scale: Concert Owner: Anthony Florido
Status: SOLD
Beautiful example of one of Greco's earliest models, a 1964/65 gr-5 concert guitar made in Western Germany. This was long before production moved to Japan and Greco began producing Fender and Gibson copies The plastic saddle has been replaced with a custom bone saddle. Frets are all in great shape and the fretboard has a beautiful figured pattern (likely Brazillian rosewood given it's age). The model number on the label is hand written and shows gr- 9 that was corrected to 5. The action is great, good intonation, concert scale with a nice wide neck. The tuning machines are not original, but all working and in good shape. Still has the original celluloid pickguard, screws and standoffs so it stills above the top of the guitar, which is super cool. This is a rare guitar for sure.
2023-12-01: Reset the lifting bridge and reset partial back separation. Cut new bone bridge insert, cleaned/polished frets, cleaned and conditioner instrument. Full setup
