My usual supplier came into a shipment of 1974 Germanium transistors. The specs were perfect for a few classic Rangemaster treble boosters.

I built this one using a small perf board. I gave Phillip a bit of a special setup.

I used a 10k pot to vary the voltage to the transistor. The transistor was socketed so I could test several different ones. i selected one that broke into a nice clip/fuzz when the voltage was lowered. I also added a selector switch for the input capacitor (treble or full boost). Of course since this one was for Phillip, it needed an led indicator.

Again I left the enclosure plain, mainly because it was to cold to paint the day I built it.
