The Altec 1657A is killer piece of gear! It's one of the most widely used vintage tube mic preamps around. In fact it's really not a preamp, its a mono tube mixer with bass and treble controls.
Curtis picked up this unit mainly to lock in that old Motown drum sound, but it has to work first. It was evident something had fallen on the unit and broken a capacitor lose and half of the mount plate on another.
2009-01-01: Cleaned, rebuilt and serviced.
